Meet our Board of Directors

I have been a nurse for over 15 years and have been involved in non-profit work in NWI for 25 years. I have always had aspirations to be involved with international medical mission work. Fortunately I was able to go on a mission trip in 2011, to Guatemala and it changed my life forever. In 2015 an opportunity in Esquipulas, Guatemala, led me to meeting Quique Ceron. After that trip, AMOS was formed and we have been making a difference, with the help of volunteers, for many years now. I feel incredibly blessed to be a part of AMOS and I'm truly grateful for all the people that have been moved, inspired and changed, by the work we continue to do in Guatemala and here at home.

I've been a nurse for over 20 years, with the majority of those years in acute care. I joined AMOS in 2016 at its inception, went on the first mission trip to Guatemala and Honduras in 2017 and have been on multiple trips thereafter. I believe in the mission and can see that it's truly making a difference, not only in the lives of people in Central America, but in the lives of people here at home as well. I'm proud to be a member of this organization and look forward to being a part of helping it grow and flourish.

I have been involved in Healthcare as an IMCU nurse for many years. I had been wanting to be part of medical missions for quite some time and while working with Cara Hulse, she said she was going to be establishing a medical team to go to Central America and would also be supporting organizations within our own community. I immediately said I want to be part of this! Being a part of AMOS is one of the greatest blessings in my life. I hope to continue to serve people through AMOS for many years to come.

 I have been a Speech Language Pathologist since 2008 and have worked in schools, pediatric & adult-geriatric home health, as well as multiple area hospitals in various capacities including the NICU. As a SLP; I evaluate and treat speech, language, cognitive and feeding & swallowing disorders throughout the life span. I love what I do and have been blessed to work with AMOS since 2018 and able to travel to Guatemala several times. I’m not sure I can get enough of Guatemala and its people; but love that AMOS also works locally supporting local non-profits as well. I’m honored to be a part of this beautiful and thriving organization and a member of the BOD.

I have been working in healthcare for a total of 9 years now, being an ICU nurse for 6 of those years. I love working with all ages and caring for those especially in need. I am currently enrolled in a doctorate acute care nurse practitioner program (AGACNP) and look forward to continue to care for individuals at a new level upon graduation. AMOS has been a part of my life for about 4 years and I've loved every minute of being involved in this nonprofit. I was honored to be a part of a mission trip in 2022 and ever since then Guatemala has forever changed my outlook not only in healthcare but in life in general. I'm excited to be a part of the A Mission of Service (AMOS) board of directors and involved in the community outreach responsibilities! I look forward to working with other nonprofits in our area and continuing to encourage others to be apart of such a wonderful giving community! 

Born and raised in South Africa. Recruited as a nurse to work in the US in 1979. Blessed to have become  a US citizen in 1988. I have worked in South Africa as a midwife and Casualty (Emergency) Nurse, in Tennessee and Houston as a Med-Surg nurse, a peritoneal dialysis home trainer and hemodialysis nurse in Houston, and as a Nurse Manager of a Trauma Center Emergency Dept in Chicago. I have worked in the Cardiovascular Lab at Porter, Valparaiso for nearly 28 years, where I raised my children.  I am so grateful for all the opportunities available to me here in the US and for the life I have built here.  I have had  the privilege of working with the youth at our church for over a decade. I have always wanted to do medical mission trips. Being a part of AMOS has filled a life’s dream.

I currently work as a Medical Social worker and Bereavement Coordinator for Southerncare hospice.  Previously, I served as Executve Director of Gabriel’s Horn homeless shelter with whom AMOS is a partner. In 2019, I was fortunate to be part of the AMOS team that went to Guatemala. It was a truly a life-changing experience. I will forever be grateful and humbled by the generosity and kindness of the people of Guatemala .  My husband, Kevin, and I reside in Porter with our two lovely sons and dog, Sully.

Longtime friend of Cara Hulse who started A Mission of Service. She shared with me her goals and vision for AMOS, I was in awe as I usually am with Cara. She was looking for people who have a passion to be on a board with her. I do not have a medical background like many do on this board, I have done volunteer dog rescue for over 15 years. I am a person with a physical disability, who through lots of challenges, has grown with a strength of mind and soul, determination and passion. I am a proud fur mom. I am the person who will be by your side to support you in life’s journey, always.
